Switch off overnight and save energy

It's very easy to get involved in the Standby Saturday campaign. Simply by switching off non-essential electrical appliances properly overnight we can stop wasting significant amounts of energy and reduce the carbon emissions from fossil fuel-generated electricity.

So, just a very small effort by everyone will make a huge difference to the environment by helping to slow global warming.

And of course, saving energy will also save you money!

Don’t leave gadgets on standby – switch off the power!

When you go to bed on Standby Saturday night - and every night - check that you've turned off the standby power button on all your non-essential electrical goods:

  • Televisions, video & DVD players
  • Cable, satellite & Freeview boxes
  • Stereo systems
  • Computers, monitors, hard drives, printers, scanners etc
  • PlayStations, Wii’s, personal computer games etc
  • Electronic musical instruments
  • Chargers and docking stations for electric shavers, toothbrushes, mobile phones, laptops etc
  • Microwaves, cordless kettles, coffee machines etc

Become an advocate

Standby Saturday relies on advocates to spread the word and take an active part in the campaign. To be a Standby Saturday advocate you must tell everyone you know about Standby Saturday and its missions and aims.

Send us a link to your website so we can list you as an advocate on the Standby Saturday website. Advocates all over the country will be directing people to view our website. Please note - adding a link may take a few days as all applicants are checked for authenticity and validity.

Let us know that you are an advocate by emailing advocates@StandbySaturday.com . Ask your contacts to become advocates too.

Become a sponsor

Sponsorship spaces are available on all our web pages. To become a sponsor, please outline your full sponsorship proposal and submit by email to Sponsors@StandbySaturday.com. All types of sponsorship are considered and each proposal is judged on its own merits.

Examples of valuable sponsorship would be committing to:

  • Downloading the Standby Saturday leaflet to distribute in public places within your organisation.
  • Placing the Standby Saturday logo and link on your website, literature and communications.
  • Encouraging your contacts to become advocates.
  • Adding a Standby Saturday statement to your workforce email signatures.
  • Including a feature in a staff/customer magazine or on notice boards.

Don't forget: spreading the word is key to getting people involved and achieving an enormous saving on wasted energy. All innovative ideas welcome! Thank you.
